The National Guard Association of Illinois is constantly evaluating innovative ways to connect with the Soldiers, Airmen and families of the Illinois National Guard. Over the past few years, communicating with our members was stifled due to the tight restrictions brought on by COVID-19. This experience has afforded us opportunities to think out of the box on how we can continue to bring and share these benefits to our members. We believe we have an amazing tool that is literally out of this world that allows our NGAI members to fully immerse into an exclusive VR Experience and determine all your benefits real time. Additionally, our members will be able to gain access to all the Professional Development Opportunities we offer in our VR Worlds. Since 2021 we have been developing Desa and building a team of dedicated programmers, 3D artists and game developers. This is what we want to achieve in the next 2 years.

Development Since 2021 we’ve self-funded the project and have reached an Early Alpha stage.

From our humble beginnings with a small team, we formed the spark of an idea into the grand design that is now Desa. We spend month after month refining concepts and building prototypes. Constantly probing existing virtual worlds, and analyzing upcoming creations. In this process the most important effort we made was conversing with the people that make up these online communities. It is through these communities that we learned what the Desa should become, and it is for these communities that Desa will become.

And now it is these communities that we call upon. For we are at a point where we must go beyond a small development team, and beyond mere prototypes. We have done what we can with the funds we had, and laid a solid foundation. Now we have a chance to realize the potential of our collective needs and create a virtual world for us all. If you aid us in this endeavor it would mean a new home for you, by you. Let us keep this world in control of the communities that inhabit them.

Pledge rewards

We have a huge assortment of rewards to hand out as a means of saying thanks, not just from us, but indirectly from all the future people that will benefit from Desa. In order to clarify how those rewards will take shape, we provide a more detailed explanation:

You will have the ability to reserve your in-game name when Beta launches, instead of waiting for Desa to go fully live, and picking one of the names that are left.

Desa will have its own centralized currency. This currency can not only be bought through us, but you may also cash out into real world currencies. The pledge rewards of virtual currency will be distributed to backers when their Beta access starts.

Desa will be free to play, but there will be the option for premium membership. The specifics of premium will be made available at a later date.

We have planned our Beta period in three phases. The first starting in July 2023 and continuing until live, and the second one kicking off in December 2023 until live. For now we also have a third Beta planned, which will be an open Beta starting in April 2024 until live.

Items will be transferable/tradable. We are still defining the exact process of how this will take place.

Some items, like the Backer clothing, are limited. These items will no longer be attainable after a certain amount have been created. (All the Backer clothing, Backer furniture, Backer cars, Backer food truck, Backer housing are limited items only obtainable during this kickstarter)

Every user will have a starting apartment granted to their account upon creation. Apart from this, you can attain many more apartments. These apartments will be situated into dedicated housing area’s for apartments. Beyond that, there are also dedicated housing areas meant for villa’s. You may place your housing in one of these areas depending on rent and the housing area’s owner approval.

You can own your own car to drive around Desa, and even take passengers with you. Cars can only be controlled by their owner, and all cars are self-driving. This is done to maintain an orderly traffic flow. Only those with an appropriate pledge will have a car until car sale is unlocked for all users later in the Beta.

One of the core concepts for Desa is making a living in our virtual world. One method of supporting this is by allowing users to operate their own small business. This can be in the form of a kiosk, food truck, small shop and many more.

Every user will be able to own land and utilize its many opportunities. These lands are essential to the social and economic impact we seek to create. If you desire to generate great financial wealth, it can be done in multiple ways. From renting out apartments in a high value neighborhood to operating shops in a comprehensive mall. The building system easily allows you to designate parts of your land for different financial goals. On the other hand maybe you seek to bring social change in the form of knowledge or network. We support the idea of giving virtual lectures and workshops to teach others and seek to give these activities a platform. In fact we envision entire lands dedicated to schools and learning centers.

A special group of users will be assembled each year with whom we hold important meetings. This group will be known as the Desa Council. In these meetings we will discuss the state of Desa and it’s possible future. They will therein represent the best interest of the community. The Council will be assembled anew each year, where the entire community can vote on who is chosen. The first Council (which will be in effect during beta) will consist of those who pledged at the appropriate tier. After the Beta, it will be disbanded and the community may vote on who will represent them in the new council. Apart from this we will of course still listen to the community directly. But we trust on the council members to gauge the needs of the community.

Some people decide to play a bigger role in the creation of Desa than others. They go beyond and aid us to an extent worth honoring. For this we plan to construct a grand hall so we may indeed honor those who support us most.

We help hidden talents reach a broader audience and create new sources of income.

Also, people who live in solitude or with physical limitations are given much more freedom in this virtual world, to meet and connect with people. Supporting this Kickstarter is not only helping us build and develop the virtual world but also allows us to reach likeminded people that contribute value to the community and create jobs and educational opportunities. Together we can create significant global and social impact.
